Downtown Denver Photography: Colorado State Capitol Building
The Colorado State Capitol in Denver is an iconic building that anchors the city’s downtown and skyline. The building covers one square block, on about 10 acres of land, between Colfax and 14th Ave. The capitol complex is a popular gathering spot for protests, press conferences, and rallies. Because of this, the state took extra measures to protect the building and those who gathered at its doorstep. As part of the Colorado state capitol security upgrade project, the state decided to order the installation of crash-tested bollards.
To complete this project, Canada-based Reliance Foundry and local Colorado construction company, GH Phipps, worked together to install the new bollards outlining the perimeter of the statehouse. The installed bollards are meant to block any vehicles from being able to drive onto the areas where press conferences and rallies are typically held.

The project required wide-angle shots to capture the scale and importance of the building in comparison to the placement of the bollards. As well as a few up-close, detail shots highlighting their craftsmanship.
